This page has the information you need to get moved into our space and start playing with us. **If you have any questions or need assistance, the best way is on the Infinite Directive Discord in the #Help channel.** <well> ==== Prepare Your Personal Assets ==== === To Bulk Ship Your Assets === We currently recommend packing light when shipping items to NullSec. Most of our doctrines are available on the market at our staging system, and it's often easier and cheaper to buy them there rather than shipping items from HighSec. Bring only what you think you'll immediately need, and leave the rest behind. When you've decided what you want to bring, follow the steps below to prep your items for shipping: - Move whatever you need to import to **Jita IV - Moon 4 - Caldari Navy Assembly Plant**. - If you have a lot of items to move into Jita, consider a hauling service like PushX. - Make sure any ships or containers you want shipped are packaged. Most shipping services do not accept un-packaged ships! //Repackaging a fit ship will destroy the rigs.// - Once you've accepted your invite, follow the instructions in the section below to ship your items to our staging. </well><well> ==== Warning: Joining TEST Makes High-Sec Dangerous ==== <callout type="danger"><text type="warning">**Once your characters join TEST, using them in high security space is strongly discouraged.** TEST — like most major null-sec alliances — is perpetually war-declared upon by dedicated ganking groups. In null-sec this has no impact, but in high and low security space it allows these groups to attack your characters at will, without any CONCORD intervention.</text></callout> If you want to continue operating in high-sec, **keep those characters out of TEST**. You have two options depending on your needs: * **Keep high-sec characters in their default NPC corporation.** NPC corp members cannot be war-decced, making them completely safe to use at trade hubs and for industrial activities. * **If you occasionally need a character in TEST space** (e.g. for freight pickups or brief logistics runs), consider placing them in a **TEST Personal Alt Corporation (PAC)** instead of the main alliance. PAC corps are designed exactly for this use case and carry far less wardec exposure than full alliance membership. === Understanding Security Levels === == High Security Space (1.0 to 0.5) == War targets — enabled by wardecs — can almost always be found camping the major trade hubs: Jita, Amarr, Dodixie, Rens, and Hek. Even with insta-dock and insta-undock bookmarks you remain at risk. **Any character in TEST or a TEST-affiliated corp should be treated as a war target magnet in high-sec.** If you have no alternative and must use a trade hub, do so with a character that is not in TEST. Beyond war targets, industrial ships in high-sec are also prey for suicide gankers — players who willingly lose their ships to CONCORD hoping that valuable cargo drops for their alts to loot. The best deterrent is keeping your cargo value low and avoiding flashy haulers. == Low Security Space (0.4 to 0.1) == CONCORD will not intervene in low security space. Gate and station guns will fire on you if you attack an illegal target within 150 km, and you will lose security status for doing so. War targets and suicide gankers remain threats here. == Null Security Space (0.0 to -1.0) == There is no CONCORD in null security space — no gate or station guns, and no security status loss for fighting other players. Assume all neutrals are hostile. Be aware of bubbles (interdiction spheres) anchored or launched by certain ships; flying into one prevents you from warping. You also cannot dock in player-owned stations unless your corporation or alliance has appropriate standings, or the station is in Freeport Mode. </well> ===== First Steps For New Members ===== If you're reading this, you've just joined 8DIR — welcome aboard! We look forward to flying with you. Please read through the following steps and complete each one to get ready for life in null-sec. <well> ==== Step 1: Setup Our IT Services ==== **Before you do anything else**, please set up our IT Services. You won't be able to fully participate in 8DIR until this is complete. This setup grants you access to voice communications, fleet notifications, member chat, and alliance announcements. It's a requirement to partipate in the corp. Setting up IT Services requires you to sign in to the following websites, first with your main **main character** and then later linking all of your alts. Yes, it's a lot of clicking - but most people only have to do it once! == 8Dir Infinite Auth == 8Dir's own auth plateform is located at https://auth.infinitedirective.com/. Infinite Auth has many tools that you'll be able to use throughout your Eve journey, but the most important process is to link your Discord account so that you can access our Discord chat server. Make sure you sign in first with your main character, and then also link all alt characters. == TEST "Old Auth" == TEST Alliance is in the process of transitioning from it's old auth to a new auth platform. For now, you have to sign up for both. "Old Auth" is located at https://auth.pleaseignore.com/. Make sure you sign in first with your main character, and then also link all alt characters. == TEST "New Auth" == TEST's new auth platform is located at https://pleaseignore.app/. Make sure you sign in first with your main character, and then also link all alt characters. == WinterCo Auth == The coalition level auth platform is located at https://auth.wintercoalition.space. Signing up here will grant you access to WinterCo's fittings and IT services. Most people only need to sign up with their main character. </well><well> ==== Step 2: Moving In ==== === Shipping Your Assets to Nullsec === If you prepared assets for shipping using the instructions in the section above, you can now send them up to NullSec! To do this, create a courier contract using the Calculator tab on the TEST Alliance Freight website. Most of your items will want to use the Jita > 4-HWWF route. <grid> === Getting to Staging === <callout type="danger"><text type="warning">Make sure to restart your client **after** joining 8DIR. The game is glitchy - if you don't restart, pilots that are friendly/blue may show up as neutral on your overview.</text></callout> You've got 2 options for getting to our space: You can either Remotely Death Clone to our staging, or fly there in person. == Flying In == The highsec route into our space is often camped by hostiles. It is strongly recommended you only fly a shuttle into our space and have all other ships sent via freight. The easiest way to fly to our staging is currently to enter Vale of the Silent through the lowsec connection in Hakonen and then Obe. - Set your destination and fly to <text type="success">**4-HWWF - WinterCo Central Staging**</text>. - Once docked up, open up the **Clone Bay** interface and set that structure as your home station. </grid> </well><well> ==== Step 3: Getting Settled In ==== === Doctrine Ships === TEST Alliance's full list of approved doctrines is available on the TEST Doctrines wiki page. Don't feel pressured to buy everything at once — ships can be purchased on the market at our staging system, so you can pick them up as you need them. If you're not sure where to start, **ask in the #help channel on the 8DIR Discord**. Members can point you toward whichever doctrines have been most active recently so you can prioritize your ISK wisely. === Universal Support Ships === Regardless of which main doctrine ships you're working toward, the Universal Support Ships are always a great early investment. These ships are: * **Relatively low cost** — easy on the wallet for newer players * **Accessible skill-point wise** — you don't need months of training to fly them effectively * **Welcome on virtually any fleet** — so they'll never go to waste Picking up one or two of these early means you can join fleets right away while you work toward your longer-term doctrine goals. === TEST Free Ships === If you're particularly strapped for ISK after the move, TEST offers a selection of **free ships** through the TEST Free program to help get you on your feet. Check the wiki page for the current offerings and how to claim them. </well> public/indoctrination/getting_started.txt Last modified: 2026/05/01 01:45by plain_bagel
